Name: Lumina Louise Mond.
Mermaid kingdom: Nerland.
Birthday: Unknown, but she was born in 1987.
Occupation: Princess of Nerland and also, a sea witch.
Looks as human: She has snow white skin, her eyes a mysterious shade of silver, and navy-blue hair with a sapphire glow. She’s somewhat taller than Amelia, but thinner and more graceful.
Looks as mermaid: Her tail has a dark, navy blue color. In her country, Nerland, she typically wore elegant uniforms. From time to time, though, she can be seen wearing black gowns and witch robes.
Personality: Lumina is a mysterious, elusive and emotionally frozen girl. She is pureblood royalty and a very powerful sea witch always surrounded by a cold and regal ambience. From an early age, Lumina believed that her sister was alive somewhere. Hence, in order to go in search of her (her sister), she turned into a rebellious girl and escaped from home. However, she is a good-hearted person who is willing to do anything for the ones she loves.

Interests: Lumina’s interests are not speculated. Hopefully, we can learn more about her in the second book of the series, “Mermaid Princess Amelia and the Destiny’s Theater.”
Family: Her grandfather was Nikodemus I, the son of queen Nelke II of the Dunkel-Rotblau dynasty, who married the aristocrat Melania Malina Mond (Lumina’s grandmother). Their daughter, Marzia Maledra Mond (declared dead), married the prince Andreas II of Northern Baltic (who went missing – we may learn more about him, in the second novel). Marzia gave birth to two daughters, Lumina Louise Mond and Amelia Amalberga Mond. Lumina and Amelia’s relationship is really complicated because Lumina has to withhold some important information from Amelia, to keep her out of danger. Overall, Lumina had a poor relationship with all mentioned family members. In the past, the people of her kingdom, Nerland, believed she was possessed by Satan. When we meet her in the first book, we learn that she is gathering artefacts to unlock a guardian plate, too. Over time, it turns out that she plans to use the secrets of the universal legend to avenge their mother.
Best friends: Samantha Santoro and Tikalie Uxmal (Antemidia’s princess before Amelia).
Love interest: Lumina’s love interest isn’t mentioned and we don’t know anything about her preferences.
Trivia:
- Lumina puts on a cold, defiant façade to protect people she loves.
- Lumina never believed that Amelia was dead and went in search of her, but life had other plans and distracted her from that primary mission.
- It is unclear how many languages she speaks, probably just German and some Oceanian.
- She used to keep a diary in which she both wrote and drew.
- She’s talented at going missing.
