5 simple sea-related décor ideas to give your apartment a mermaid look
Written by Mermaid Carlene
Have you ever wondered if there was an easy way to give your house a more marine look, but without costly solutions such as installing aquariums, replacing furniture or painting walls? Look no further, this article is for you. It contains easy, instant, and cheap décor ideas which will give your apartment a slightly marine touch. Check them out and if you enjoyed this article, make sure to like it and follow this blog!
Idea #1 – Shell picture frames in the bedroom
You can buy those at the seaside, online, or create your own ones, if you’re artistic (or have kids who love DIY). Such shell picture frames will instantly add a marine look to your bedroom, and if you choose standing frames, you won’t need to worry about destroying walls by driving nails into them.
Idea #2 – Sea-themed candles in the study room
Sea-themed candles are perfect decorative items for several reasons. They take little space, and can add a marine atmosphere to the room right away. You will find them in different shapes and sizes, which will fit your surroundings, or even make the whole collection, just like the one Maxine has! Bonus points, since she got it in China, and they’re in the colors of one of her favorite mermaids, Greene Grant (Guo Guiying) from East China Sea (you can learn more about her here).
Idea #3 – Bath salts in the bathroom
Everyone who has a bath tub, knows how amazing bath salts are. But did you know, you can also use them in the shower? You can put them at the bottom of the shower, so that as you pour hot water on them, the steam makes scent go up. You can also use bath salts topically, e.g. combine them with a carrier oil to turn them into a body scrub. Another great option is scrubbing some into wet soap… and don’t forget about the good old water basin! You can dilute bath salts there. You should keep bath salts home for an undersea look because, those are essential for every mermaid!
Idea #4 – Sea salt in the kitchen
That’s yet another easy idea: you have to use salt in the kitchen anyways, so why not buy sea salt instead? It will be a bit pricier but you can mix it with herbs and other spices, to create a flavored mix for different marine dishes! Bonus points if you put it in a mason jar decorated with rope or other marine motifs!
Idea #5 – Mermaid books in the living room
Last but not least: what would be a mermaid house without sea-related books? Gather them all in your favorite space, and don’t forget to add new ones to your collection. Also, if you haven’t bought “Mermaid Princess Amelia and the Lost Symphony” yet, then what are you waiting for? It’s the ultimate mermaid book, a must-have for everyone loving sea and everything related to it. If it’s the first time that you’re hearing about this novel, you can learn more about it in here.
