Which girl with an artistic flair doesn’t love preparing her own organic cosmetics? Regardless of whether you live by the sea or not, you can prepare your own bath salts and more. In this article, I have collected a few cosmetics ideas that you can create – in a simple way and without going bankrupt.
To make all these cosmetics, you will need the following ingredients:
- sea salt
- nori seaweed sheets (the ones for sushi)
- dried flowers (look for ready soap mixes when shopping online)
- olive oil
- essential oil of your choice, for skin
And this equipment will definitely come in handy:
- small mason jars
- kitchen scissors
- bowl for mixing
- blender
Got everything ready? Let’s get started!
Sea salt mouth rinse
I had first tried a sea salt mouth rinse for an aching wisdom tooth, and it worked wonders. Since then, I had been a great fan of DIY mouth rinses. They will leave your mouth feeling fresher than toothpaste and over-the-counter dental products – for real. And they’re very easy to make! All you need to do, is to dissolve some sea salt in a glass of water.
Sea salt with dry flowers for bathing or soaking feet
If you want, you can dry your own flowers, but we recommend buying a ready soap mix. Simply mix them with sea salt, and store them in a mason jar. Later, simply add it to your bath tub, or to the basin where you soak feet.
Sea salt and olive oil based scrub with essential oils
Sea-salt has antibacterial properties, and as such, it is an excellent exfoliator. It will cleanse your skin, eliminating dead skin cells, and make it softer. Mix it with carrier oil of your choice – we recommend olive oil – and consider adding essential oils for a nice scent and additional benefits. Tea tree oil is great if you have acne: it kills microbes, removes toxins and moisturizes the skin. Rosehip oil has anti-aging properties, and grapeseed oil will lighten the complexion.
Seaweed face mask
Seaweed has antioxidant properties, and can slow down aging of the skin, simultaneously giving it moisturization. You can make a seaweed face mask very easily, by cutting nori seaweed sheets and soaking them in the water, until they become soft. Then, simply put them on your face.
Seaweed moisturizer
This recipe sounds complicated, but in reality, it’s very elementary. You can do it together with the seaweed face mask, if you’ve got nori seaweed sheets left, and don’t know what to do with them. Soak them in the water like in the previous recipe, and later blend everything with some olive oil. Pour it in a jar and smear on hands, feet or face – depending on what you want to moisturize.
