General Aalona Morales

General Aalona is one of the three generals ruling in Antemidia. Everyone seems to be afraid of her. Araminta tells Amelia, Aalona will kill her, once she shows up after her absence. And later, at the Uxmal Manor, Amelia worries about Aalona ripping off her side fins. It looks like the woman has a very short temper, and is generally stern, punitive and unforgiving.

She’s also controlling, she expects to know everything that Amelia does, and feels entitled to ask awkward questions. She prides herself in high status, putting down those less fortunate. She called both Amelia and Tony “peasants,” saying, that they were worth each other’s company.

The only person that she seems to have some respect for, is General Asvald. General Asvald, though, seems to like her, as he offers her some snacks. Under his influence, General Aalona apologizes to both Amelia and Tony.

Amelia thinks to herself, she hates General Aalona, but she’s nevertheless respectful, when talking about her.

Not much is known about General Aalona’s family, but she surely has a niece. One of the reasons for her bad mood during the ball, might be the fact that her niece failed some important examination.

Aalona’s name, is actually masculine, and Hawaiian. It means “exalted” or “high mountain.” It’s highly likely, Aalona was subject to very rigorous upbringing, where she had to act as a boy. Aalona’s surname, Morales, means “the son of moral (right and proper)”
