Tony Alcantara is a tertiary character in “Mermaid Princess Amelia and the Lost Symphony,” written by Maxine Foti.

Name: Tony Alcantara.

Mermaid kingdom: Antemidia (Caribbean Sea).

Age: 21 years old.

Occupation: He is the member of the staff working in the palace / Uxmal Manor. It looks like, he’d been in service for a very long time, still in the times of Tikalie (Lumina can remember him from her visits on Nerland). He works for Alissa, the court stylist. He is responsible for importing rare materials and precious jewelry, which Alissa uses in her newest projects. She sends him to different locations, such as Turquoise Sands, Gulf of Tonkin, Polynesian Waters, or the Peruvian Trenches.

Looks as merman: He has black quiff, and a face which Amelia describes as “dusky” and “handsome.” He’s got broad arms, and his tail is celadon with transparent fins jagged at their ends. Amelia describes him as taller than her, but due to the etiquette, he’s forced to swim closer to the sea bottom. He loves flashy and colorful clothing, and accessories, too.

Personality: Tony travels quite a lot, and because of it, he has several great stories to tell. However, he never boasts about the places he went to, he’s quite modest. Even though some people at the palace disrespect him, he will never talk back. He’s generally friendly, open and warm. He’s flirty, and bold, and not afraid to make romantic jokes.

Interests: Tony loves fashion. When he reunites with Amelia, he talks about his and her clothes. Later, when reminiscing him on land, Amelia wonders, what he’d say about her current outfit, and what would he himself choose. Except fashion, Tony seems to be the life of the party. He’s definitely enjoying his time during ball, and Amelia also mentioned that they used to sneak out to attend local reggaeton parties.

Best friends: Tony is probably friends with Alissa, Amida, Utau, and other people working in the court. However, his best friend is Amelia. He states that directly, and adds: “I’m following her to hell and back.”

Love interest: Tony could be in love with Amelia. When they reunite after her going missing, he says: “I’ve missed you like crazy.” He also calls her “princess” instead of “Your Limpidity.” This points to the fact, she means a lot to him. When Amida comments about Tony and Amelia being “so in love with each other”Tony doesn’t deny it. He hugs Amelia closer and states: “yeah, we totally are.” However, Amelia considers that to be a joke, and the romantic moment’s gone before it could even start. Interestingly, Tony is one of the few people Amelia doesn’t mind to hug or hold hands with, and she thinks about him, when away, or sad, or in difficulty.

Trivia:

General Aalona hates Tony, and mocks him for his non-noble roots. She calls him a “peasant” and tells him, he should stay away from Amelia, which visibly saddens him.
Tony is good at reading emotions. When Amelia learns that Tikalie could be alive, he instantly senses her fears and tries to comfort her.
Although it’s unexpected, Amelia’s sister, Lumina, and Tony, actually met each other in the past. Tony used to work for Tikalie, and Lumina was her best friend. Interestingly, Tony never thought that Lumina and Amelia could be sisters.
