Name: Araminta (Samantha Santoro).

Age: (It’s year 2008 in the book, so she is) 21 years old.
Occupation: scholarship student from Atlantis living in Antemidia, mermaid princess Samantha IV Santoro of Atlantis that went missing in 2003 (5 years before the start of the saga).
Looks as human: She is 175 cm tall and weighs 74 kg. She has a curvy silhouette. Her fashion style of choice is chic, and her favorite colors are white and gold. Her hair has a natural dark pink color, however, in Antemidia she dyed a significant part of into black, so as not to raise too much attention. Her eyes are Atlantinean blue.
Looks as mermaid: As a mermaid, she is 210 cm tall, and weighs 2 kg more than usual (because of her tail). Her tail resembles the fluorescent pink angelfish. In Antemidia, she usually wears a bright tunic and a coral necklace. In Atlantis, she wears dark pink royal robes that take a lot of space (3-5 meters), and lots of gold jewelry which clinks whenever she swims.
Personality: Araminta is the life of the party, she communicates with everyone easily, and adapts to different environments fast… at the price of her own integrity. In the first novel of the series, we learn that she is a liar who has been hiding several important facts from Amelia. Once Amelia figures it out, she gets upset, yet chooses to forgive Araminta and continue being her friend.
Interests: As a scholarship student, Araminta learns ancient Antemidian music. Her instrument of choice is the harp. She knows several songs by heart and can play them without any preparation. One of her dreams is to become a professional, however, she seldom has time to practice as much as she’d like to. Apart from music, Araminta enjoys shopping for fashionable clothes and gourmet cooking.
Family: She belongs to the the Santoro family. She has several siblings – all are male.
Best friends: In Antemidia, She hangs out mostly with Amelia and Tony. Before she moved there for good, her true best friends were Lumina (Amelia’s sister) and Tikalie (Antemidia’s princess before Amelia).
Love interest: Araminta’s love interest isn’t mentioned.
Trivia:
- Araminta’s mother tongue is Latin and she always uses some Latin words or proverbs when she speaks.
- During the earthquake at the beginning of book one, Amelia worries the most about Araminta, as at that time, her other best friend Tony was absent from the palace.
- Araminta likes grapefruits a lot. The reason for that is, grapefruit seems sweet like other citruses, however, when you try to eat it, it turns out to be bitter. Samantha feels that the grapefruit resembles her personality – seemingly sweet, but actually bitter.
