The first book in the series about Mermaid Princess Amelia, “Mermaid Princess Amelia and the Lost Symphony,” depicted the most important secondary character, Captain Jet Mir Thakur, as an exiled prince on a quest to redeem himself by plotting together with Amelia Quintana.
What else do we know about Captain Jet Mir Thakur’s exile from Mermaid Princess Amelia and the Lost Symphony?
Like you surely remember, Jet Mir’s goal was to steal some artifacts from their legitimate owners and use them to open a guardian plate. He believed that doing so would give him power that he needed to return to his undersea kingdom, the Honey Earth. After the exile, he was mostly confined to living in his submarine, and teaching in the Bermuda Triangle. Why it was Bermuda Triangle though, and not some other mermaid kingdom? That’s a mystery which was revealed only in the collection.
The Truth About Captain Jet Mir Thakur’s Exile, as described by the “Stories From The Undersea World Of Mermaid Princess Amelia, Vol 1”
In Jet Mir’s story, entitled “Prince turned Captain,” you get to know more about Jet Mir’s family and the conflict which was brewing in the family since he was a teenager. Fear gripped Jet Mir’s mother when she discovered that her brother’s mistress wanted their son, Sha Mir, to take over the throne. Encouraged by her mother, Jet Mir had hurried to Sha Mir’s chambers to convince him to turn down the throne and do so publicly during the annual event of Diwali.
Jet Mir believed that getting him to do that was the answer to his dilemma, but he was wrong, for it was during Diwali that everything turned upside down! After a group of professional assassins called “Golden Shadows” slaughtered around forty people, and Sha Mir himself got stabbed, Jet Mir was blamed for the tragedy (later called The Massacre of Mrigatrishna City).
Following a brief trial, Jet Mir was thrown into the dungeon and sentenced to death. Fortunately, with the help of his mother, Jet Mir managed to flee Mrigatrishna City. He settled in Fort Bermuda, the capital of the Bermuda Triangle, where he met his mother’s penfriend, Queen Larimara, and her daughter Lara, whom he later taught at the local university.
Intriguingly, while the story collection portrays Jet Mir’s aunt Shanaya Mia as the one guilty of the massacre, Edith tells Amelia in “…The Lost Symphony” that the event was organized by his uncle. It’s not clear whether Jet Mir discovered some new truths or the uncle and aunt plotted together. But it will probably be revealed in the next books from the Mermaid Princess Amelia fantasy series!
Final thoughts on Captain Jet Mir Thakur’s Exile
Isn’t Jet Mir’s story interesting? It is! And there are many more mysteries hidden in the pages of this book, for example, how Jet Mir got his submarine crew. Make sure to read the collection – it will help you understand the first novel in the series, and you’ll enjoy yourself a lot!
