Mermaid Princess Amelia – Best Mermaid Book Series For Teenagers

Natalie Uxmal is a character from Mermaid Princess Amelia fantasy series by Maxine Foti. She made her first appearance in the “Stories from the Undersea World of Mermaid Princess Amelia.”

Natalie Uxmal is an adult mermaid living in the Uxmal Manor in Atanga, Antemidia. She is the mother of the legendary mermaid princess of Antemidia, Tikalie Uxmal.

Like many other Antemidians, Natalie revered the Mayan pantheon. She called her daughter after the Mayan city of Tikal, and often took her on land to see the Mayan sights. When the mermaid turned twelve, Natalie sent her to the Antemidian city of Aternidad, to become a priestess (and learn meditation).

Aside from taking care of her daughter’s spiritual development, Natalie made also sure that the girl received the best education possible. She signed her up for the High SEAS (High School for Elite Antemidian Sisters), one of the best schools in the whole country (if not the best one).

Natalie was also the one who personally suggested her daughter’s candidacy for the post of the next elective princess. She gave the suggestion directly to General Asvald Altamira, who accepted it, and personally chose Tikalie to be the next elective princess.

Tikalie was a role model and she surely made her ambitious mother proud. However, it is clear that she wouldn’t have gone this far without her mother’s help, power, and connections.

Natalie doesn’t appear in “Mermaid Princess Amelia and the Lost Symphony.” However, her family home (the Uxmal Manor) serves as the Council of General’s temporary residing place. Amelia Quintana lived there shortly after returning to Antemidia, after the earthquake of summer 2008.

She and Tony Alcantara got lost in the corridors of the manor which was huge (and looking like the pyramid of Chichen Itza). The two accidentally found the letter written by Lumina Mond, for her best friend Tikalie Uxmal, and realized that Tikalie Uxmal likely wasn’t dead at all. Intriguingly, later, when Amelia asked Lumina who passed her letters to Tikalie, Lumina said that it was General Asvald (not Tikalie’s mother).
