The mermaids of Antemidia, Atlantis and other underwater kingdoms live by the side of marine animals: sea turtles, dolphins, and even whales! But did you know that these aren’t reserved only for mermaids?
You may not find sea animals in a conventional pet shelter, but there are ways to adopt them – at least symbolically – from all over the world.
Organizations dedicated to the protection and conservation of underwater life (such as Oceana Marine Wildlife Adoption or the Pacific Whale Foundation and Oceanic Society – the latter of which has been active for more than 30 years) offer people a unique opportunity to adopt whales, dolphins, sea turtles, penguins, puffins, and countless other wildlife species – some of them endangered.
This is a perfect option if you can’t really offer a home to wild animals, and yet want to support them. For example, by adopting, Belize Bottlenose Dolphin or a California Humpback Whale, you will receive a certificate of adoption, as well as a photograph and the animal will continue leaving happily where it’s currently stated. You will be able to view information about it. The beauty of long-distance wildlife adoption lays in the fact that you’re improving their living conditions by being a sponsor, and also collaborating with various research and conservation programs.
To that, the foundations offer ecotours with snorkeling trips, cruises and whale watching encounters – events where you can even see your adopted whale in the wilderness, enjoying their life to the fullest! You will also receive information about its travel routes, health status, or offspring.
What do you think? Would you adopt a sea animal at a distance? Why yes and why not? Let us know in the comment section below the article, we want to hear from you!
