Your options for homemade jewelry don’t need to be limited to simple bracelets! A beaded necklace has a powerful charm, it’s an adornment with the power to make you feel prettier and more confident, plus, it’s very simple to make. You will only need colorful beads, shell-shaped beads (or charms, if you wish!), an elastic string, and a lot of imagination.
Making a necklace follows the same creative process as making a bracelet, only that, the thread should be longer. How much longer? It’s up to you. You can make a collar necklace, or one that will be folded multiple times.

Similarly, there doesn’t have to be any limit to the variety of colors, but we still recommend following patterns for a more neat, and professional look. You can inspire yourself with color themes from Mermaid Princess Amelia, too. E.g. you may make a necklace inspired by Araminta Aragosta / Samantha Santoro, by picking an arrangement of light pink or salmon beads along with black ones. Or, you can choose a pattern from transparent beads of various shapes, and alternate them with some pale green and pale blue beads, to convey an Antemidian spirit. Mix green, golden and red for a necklace inspired by East China Sea, Greene Grant’s kingdom, and go wild when making a collar from the Kingdom of One Thousand Jewels!
Don’t forget to decorate your necklace with shell-shaped beads. We don’t recommend trying to make holes in real shells, as it’s a difficult process requiring specialist tools. If you found a beautiful shell walking on the beach, and insist on turning it into a necklace, you may need to ask your dad to use his drill to make a whole in it. However, the process may fail, as shells are fragile, and making a hole can crush the neighboring regions of the shell. So, we strongly recommend buying shell-shaped beads or shells that already have holes, rather than trying to make your own ones.
The beauty of making bead jewelry is that there are endless combinations, and with all inspiration available online, you will never run out of ideas. Good luck!
