Poland’s Independence Day and 5 military prodigies from “Mermaid Princess Amelia and the Lost Symphony”
Written by Mermaid Wioletta
On November 11, there was Poland’s Independence Day. In 1918, Poland regained sovereignty – 123 years after the country officially ceased to exist, following partitions that began in 18th century. This holiday is strongly related to the figure of Marshal Józef Piłsudski, who’s Poland’s national hero.
Poland is a country that particularly reveres its national heroes and poets. With this in mind, it doesn’t strike anybody as odd that there are so many military prodigies in “Mermaid Princess Amelia and the Lost Symphony.” After all, Maxine Foti is an author who was brought up in Poland.
In this short article we have compiled a list of those prominent characters, with some descriptions. There’s definitely plenty of things to admire these characters for, so dive in!
General Asvald – General Asvald is the chief general of Antemidia, and the head of the country’s Council of Generals. As such, he’s the true ruler of Antemidia. He’s the person who helped the previous princess of Antemidia, feign her death, allowing her to abdicate. He’s also the one who chose Amelia as the new princess.
General Aalona – General Aalona is another important person in Antemidia’s Council of Generals. Although she may appear as brusque, it can’t be denied that the woman has power, knowledge and charisma. She cares about appearances a lot, and doesn’t forgive mistakes easily. This can indicate, she had to fight very hard to make it to her current position. Besides her, all other generals mentioned are men.
Marzia Mond – Although labelled as one of the characters who lost the most in “Mermaid Princess Amelia” fantasy series, Marzia Mond had her own share of successes. She was the queen of Nerland, but also a military commander. When Amelia saw her portrait in the “Mausoleum of the Lost Symphonies,” she noticed that her mother was wearing a uniform with several military decorations, which shows, she had definitely accomplished much before her untimely death.
Kamon Thani – Little is known about Davika’s aunt from the Thai Pearl Empire, but what we do know tells us, she was just as outstanding as other people in this article, if not more. She held the title of the Empress of the Thai Pearl Empire, and was also a talented strategist. Her death was a true loss for her country and also Davika herself, who looked up to her aunt very much.
Jet Mir’s father – Jet Mir’s father is a character that wasn’t mentioned much in the first novel of the “Mermaid Princess Amelia” fantasy series. However, when Edith mentions Jet Mir’s history to Amelia, she states that his father was an army general.
We hope to learn more about these characters in the next novels of the “Mermaid Princess Amelia” fantasy series. We are also curious if new military characters will be added. We would really like to see power in the oceans!
