5 intriguing but less known characters from “Mermaid Princess Amelia and the Lost Symphony” by Maxine Foti

Written by Mermaid Gwen and Mermaid Mara

“Mermaid Princess Amelia and the Lost Symphony” is a book filled with many intriguing characters, such as Jet Mir (mysterious submarine captain) or Lumina (Amelia’s elusive sister). However, those two definitely aren’t the only ones, who spike readers’ curiosity. In this article, we have gathered five less known characters who are just as interesting. Dive in!

# 5 – Mewa Zielińska

Very little is known about Jet Mir’s adopted sisters – their personalities and stories are almost completely shrouded in mystery.

The one we know the most about is Meevani. In the middle of the book, it turns out that the name ‘Meevani’ is just her Indian nickname, and she’s actually the sister of Sawa, the princess of the Baltic Sea, who abandoned her kingdom for her own business.

We learn that Mewa misses her older sister a lot, and that she loves travelling. She appears to be a vagabond character who suffers from wanderlust and an eternal hunger for the world. As a mermaid with such adventurous spirit, she undoubtedly had a lot of interesting adventures. What kind? We can only speculate on this…

# 4 – Leticia Alvarez

Leticia is Amelia’s neighbor and leader of the Gulf of Mexico. Even though she doesn’t appear in person even once, she is a character that’s mentioned over and over again, and who’s also directly involved in the whole plot, which already creates a mysterious aura around her character.

In addition, she suffers from a mysterious ailment that has very complicated spiritual  roots related to her ancient ancestry.

Amelia rates her relationship with Leticia as very good, so readers hope that she will visit her kingdom someday. Little is known about it, except that it’s quite reach, and had power in the region even before Antemidia underwent different economic reforms.

This means that Leticia is a competent ruler. It is also possible that she knows the secrets of Tikalie – the previous ruler of Antemidia (the second most mysterious character on this list).

# 3 – Kamadia De Lisle

Kamadia is one of Edith’s closest friend, who suddenly disappears under mysterious circumstances. For this reason, Amelia learns about her only very late, and her disappearance is one of the mysteries she has to unravel.

The number of clues about her destiny, is minimal. Amelia learns from Kamadia’s ex boyfriend, Hansuke, that the mermaid went on a religious mission, but nobody knows, where. Why didn’t she come back? What stopped her? Is he alive at all? Readers learn all this only in the last chapters of Amelia’s adventures.

Tikalie triggers crazy interest among readers, and from the very first chapters of the novel. As the previous princess of Antemidia, she is a great source of authority for Amelia, who always remembers her with great respect and reverence (even though they did not know each other personally). Amelia spares no compliments, saying that Tikalie pulled their country out of economic ruin. She also believes, she’s no match to Tikalie, and fights hard, to reach her level.

# 2 – Tikalie Uxmal

What makes Tikalie such an interesting character, is her untimely death. She was reportedly struck by electric eels that sneaked into her bedroom, killing her on spot.

However, Amelia’s best friend – Tony – attended her funeral, stated that nobody ever saw the body, because, it was covered with a white sheet. He claims, it might have been a statue.

Soon, things get even weirder, because, Amelia finds a letter written by her own sister to none other than Tikalie. It looks like Tikalie is alive, and faked her death.

But why?

Why would someone, who was so successful, do something like it?

Tikalie’s friendship with Samantha, the princess of Atlantis, is also controversial…

# 1 – Araminta (Samantha Santoro)

Hardly anyone can match Tikalie when it comes to the number of puzzles. And yet there is a character that seems to be hiding even more – Araminta, Amelia’s best friend. Officially, she was a simple student on exchange, who was studying music in the capital of Antemidia, Atanga. However, it soon turns out that she hides a double identity, and is in fact Samantha Santoro – the missing mermaid princess of Atlantis.

She was a close friend of both Tikalie Uxmal and Lumina Loren (Amelia’s secret sister). The trio stuck together for a long time, but after Tikalie’s feigned death and an argument between Lumina and Samantha, it’s not known, whether there’s anything left from that friendship.

When Amelia found out that Araminta was actually Samantha, she was furious about having been lied to. However, afterwards, she decided to forgive her. When Lumina accused Samantha of being a spy, Amelia refused to believe in the allegations.

The fact remains, though, that we don’t know why Samantha hid her identity after Tikalie’s death. Was she involved in some way?

We also don’t know what happened to her after Amelia travelled to the Mausoleum of the Lost Symphonies. When she asked Edith and Jet Mir about it, she found out that they didn’t know either…

Hopefully we learn more about all these character  in the next volume of Amelia’s adventures, “Mermaid Princess Amelia and the Destiny’s Theater.”
