One of the most interesting, special, and different from the usual sibling relationships is the one of the mermaid princesses Sawa and Mewa, sisters from the Southern Baltic Sea. At first, their family bond is almost invisible, and it’s difficult to relate one to the other, mainly because they lived completely separate lives – Mewa even changed her name, from Mewa Zielińska to Meevani Thakur.
But let’s start from the beginning. Like we’ve already mentioned, both sisters come from an underwater state near Poland; however, neither inhabits their homeland now. Their parents are described as conservative rulers who were dedicated to the demands of the noble elders, forgetting the youngsters of their country, whose wants and needs were virtually ignored.
Receiving practically nothing from their country, the new generations of the Southern Baltic began migrating outside. Over time, this led to a massive exodus that ended with their state being practically abandoned and, less than a year after the coronation of Sawa, the older of the sisters, there was no one left apart from the royal family. Unable to get through to their parents, and with nothing important to do at home, both sisters left the cold sea to start anew, abroad, just like everyone else before them.
At first, they resided in Santa Ana and Vale de Santa Ana (not clear whether the two are a separate entity; probably not). Santa Ana is a small, fictional coastal town in Portugal, where they lived together in the company of other mermaids such Edith Dvali, Davika Thani, Nubia Khaled, etc. However, fate would separate them shortly after the appearance of Jet Mir in Portugal.
The submarine captain was friends with the team. One afternoon, when Mewa and Davika were swimming near the shore, Jet Mir showed up, and the trio had an assertive and dynamic conversation about artifacts, after which, Jet Mir took Mewa with himself, to his submarine.
This led Davika to erroneously believe that Mewa was kidnapped by Jet Mir and that her older sister, Sawa, hates the man for separating her from her sister.
But the truth is that, while Sawa is a mysterious, quiet, and intellectual type, her sister Mewa has trouble staying long in one place. She’s curious, adventurous, and a born explorer. Her disappearance was not a kidnapping; she simply chose to join Jet Mir’s group and travel with him, so as to see as much of the world, as possible. She even took the nickname Meevani for herself, by which Jet Mir, and his other adoptive sisters, Meghna and Namya, call her.
Meanwhile, Sawa stayed in Santa Ana. She owns an antique bookstore there. The job is perfect for her, who loves reading and does it pretty much all the time.
Unfortunately, because the two sisters have such contrasting personalities, life is pulling them apart. They can’t spend as much time together as they used to, however, it’s clear from next chapters that they miss or love each other no less.
To deal with this, Sawa regularly meets Jet Mir. She helps him with the artifacts, yes, but this helps create rare moments when she can reunite with her sister again.
