In “Mermaid Princess Amelia and the Lost Symphony,” Amelia briefly mentions the Turquoise Ravines. (Turquoise Ravines should not be confused with Turquoise Sands, which are a district in Atanga, Antemidia!)

In “Mermaid Stories from the Undersea World of Mermaid Princess Amelia, Vol. 1,” readers learn that the ravines are a tiny undersea sultanate located in the Gulf of Antalya, a body of water that’s part of the Mediterranean Sea. The gulf is an important part of the Turkish Riviera and a popular tourist destination because of its warm climate, beautiful beaches, and ancient ruins.

Nubia Khaled has the chance to meet the princess of the Turquoise Ravines, Neylan Turkuaz, when she visits the mermaid pharaoh in the Lotus State. Due to the country’s name and the princess’ surname, it is clear that the place is famous for its turquoises.
