Mermaid Princess Amelia – Best Mermaid Book Series For Teenagers

The Lotus state is a river kingdom described  in “Mermaid Princess Amelia” fantasy series. It is said to be located mostly in the Nile River, but include several underground caverns located beneath Egypt, Uganda, Sudan, Eritrea and Ethiopia. The underground areas take up to 80% of the country’s total area.

According to Amelia’s knowledge, Lotus State is neighboring with the Red Sea, and Lake Victoria. It is certain that Red Sea is a separate country ruled by Saliffa Hatim, but nothing’s known about Lake Victoria so far.

Some notable areas are:

• The delta of the Nile River – it is said to be right above the necropolis of Meritneith, the mermaid regent who ruled both on land and in the sea.
• The Blue Nile – abandoned area filled with empty buildings, where the ancient artifact of Mermaid Princess Amelia was stolen. One of the areas mentioned there, is Al-Ebd Nun.
• The cataracts – the Nile river is divided into several cataracts and in the Lotus State, there are often festivities held in those areas.

Some notable rulers of the Lotus State, were Regent Meritneith and Highest Priestess Nubia Khaled. Currently, the country’s ruled by Mermaid Pharaoh, who however isn’t mentioned by the name.

The inhabitants of the Lotus State have very pale skin, as they mostly live underground. They are short, and physically weak, mostly due to the absence of sun.

Two objects from the Lotus State which were described in the novel, are Nubia’s lapis lazuli bracelet with ankh symbols (said to be a gift from another mermaid princess, living in the Turquoise Ravines), and the amphora with the eye of Horus, closed with a tap that had the shape of an octopus.
