Roman Gwiazda is a character from Mermaid Princess Amelia fantasy series by Maxine Foti. He made his first appearance in the “Stories from the Undersea World of Mermaid Princess Amelia.”

Roman Gwiazda is an adult man from Sopot, Poland. He was the first husband of Sawa’s aunt, Anastazja Zielinska.

Despite Roman not being a significant character in the “Stories,” a lot is known about him. He lost both of his parents quite early, at the age of thirty-nine, and inherited from them an old seaside hotel in Sopot.

While he lived there, he spotted the young Anastazja, tanning on the beach (in her humand form). Despite a huge age difference between the two (she was nineteen and he was thirty-nine), they fell in love very deeply and married right away to stop their families from gossipping.

After the marriage, Anastazja immediately started renovating the hotel, and the two changed the name to “Anastazja Resort.” The place became very dynamic, and filled with foreign guests.

Roman gifted his niece Sawa Zielinska, a bike. But Sawa was scared to ride it after hearing from her mother that she could knock her teeth out. Roman persuaded her that they were only joking but Sawa still didn’t dare to ride the bike.

One year later, Roman’s wife, Anastazja, ran away with a foreign guest. Three years later, Roman married another woman, Janina, and his resort’s name was changed to “Janina Resort.”

Roman Gwiazda is a wealthy Polish tycoon from the seaside town of Sopot, located on the Baltic coast. Unlike many characters in this story, Roman is human, not a mermaid – he is a land‑dwelling hotelier who became entangled with the mermaid world through marriage. He was twenty years older than Sawa’s aunt, Anastazja, when the two met: Anastazja, a rebellious young mermaid, had a habit of sunbathing on the shore in a polka‑dot bikini and charming every handsome man who passed by, and Roman was one of them. He had already inherited an old seaside hotel from his deceased parents, and with Anastazja as his wife, he transformed it into the famous Anastazja Resort – a dynamic, bustling place filled with boisterous events and foreign guests. However, Anastazja eventually ran away with one of those guests, leaving Roman behind. He later remarried and renamed the resort Janina, after his new wife. Roman also appears in a poignant childhood memory: when Aunt Anastazja gave Sawa a bicycle for her first communion, Roman tried to persuade the frightened girl to ride it, but Sawa – terrified after her mother’s mockery – never even tried. Roman is a secondary but important figure – a human who loved a mermaid, who built a life with her, and who, despite the heartbreak, continued his business. No physical description is given, but his role highlights the complex, often painful intersections between the human and mermaid worlds.
