The topic of today’s article are 6 thoughtless things that Amelia Quintana had done, and the lessons she learned.
As you know, even the best people commit mistakes, and this definitely is the case of our favorite mermaid princess. She’s a very principled young girl, one for whom integrity, honesty and loyalty are extremely important. Still, she had done a bunch of stupid things, ones that I didn’t hesitate to collect in this article, for all of you to see. Ready? Dive in!
Escaping from her kingdom after the catastrophe
Amelia hadn’t done anything wrong, but still she fled her country. She explains it to us, saying, she couldn’t face the destruction, and that she didn’t feel strong enough to face it. This not only made her friends back home worry, but had political consequences, too – which we learn later from the generals.
Amelia knew she had made a mistake, and felt guilty multiple times for it. Fortunately, she had learned the lesson eventually and swam back home with Jet Mir and Araminta’s help. Even though she was afraid of what General Aalona and General Asvald would say, she told them the truth, and while the first was upset, the latter mercifully forgave her.
After that, Amelia got proper permission to stay abroad and she never tried to escape from her kingdom again.
Following Jet Mir into his submarine
Even though running from home was pretty bad, following Jet Mir into his submarine was worse -at least in my opinion. She had to sign the contract, which was bad, but what if Jet Mir had demanded that she transferred her kingdom to him? I don’t even want to think about it.
Once he had tricked her, she instantly regretted her actions and remained vigilant around him. As they say, once bitten twice shy!
Breaking into Edith’s apartment
Because of Amelia’s guilt related to the mistakes mentioned committed above, she attempted to complete Jet Mir’s mission as fast as possible – and after meeting Edith, she broke into her apartment.
While the first two things that she had done were bad, this was a crime. She hastily searched through Edith’s things, hoping to find her artifact – but got caught by Darsha and Kashvi. The two told her to give up on helping their brother, but she couldn’t let go of the promise she had made to him. As a result, Darsha and Kashvi locked her in Edith’s apartment (to teach her a lesson).
Amelia somehow managed to get out of this situation, but as time went by, she felt really sorry about lying into Edith’s face, especially because she knew that Edith was a really sweet and pure person.
Ruining Garabel’s performance
Despite everything that happened above, Amelia felt she could follow with Sawa’s plan. She got on stage to ruin Garabel’s performance and steal her brooch, which was a terrible thing to do. Although she succeeded, she nearly gave back the artifact – out of guilt.
As Davika publicly shed a light on her bad intention and the mission failed, Amelia realized it was a good thing, as she didn’t want to keep stealing artifacts anymore. She learned that she wasn’t cut out to be a bad person, and that she suffered, sacrificing her honesty and integrity. It was a huge lesson.
Stealing Lumina’s diary
As Amelia finds her sister’s diary, she can’t part with it. It’s obvious, she wants to learn more about her, and this is a great opportunity.
Nubia suggest straightforwardly that Amelia just takes the diary. However, Amelia really hesitates. Even though she does take the diary, it’s clear that the lessons piled up and she doesn’t want to do bad things anymore. She knows that it’ll led her to being just like her sister, and she doesn’t want it.
Travelling to the Mausoleum without any real plan
Edith called Amelia’s trip to the Mausoleum of Lost Symphonies a “suicide” right away, hence, Amelia knew that it was going to be dangerous. Still, she went there – without any real plan, or weapon. And as we learned from the next chapters, her karate skills couldn’t help much against a monster. Were it not for Kolthida, Amelia likely would’ve died (just like her mother). And who knows what would’ve happened if Jet Mir and Edith didn’t bring a squad from the Global Ocean’s Army!
In the end, everything went well, and so, Amelia remained convinced of the fact that she had done the right thing (it helped rescue Leticia). Still, she definitely got the fright of her life, and hopefully, it taught her not to do dangerous things alone.
Interesting, isn’t it? I’m very curious about Amelia’s choices and decisions in the second novel of the series, “…The Destiny’s Theater.” I hope that her getting smarter won’t mean less adventures!
