The Mausoleum of the Lost Symphonies is a mythical and legendary place – it’s the ancient home of a lineage of monk mermaids. Because the mausoleum changes location every few years, there are only two ways to find it.
The first is by opening the ninth guardian plate using the artifacts of undersea countries such as: the Kingdom of a Thousand Jewels, the Thai Pearl Empire, the Lotus State, the Argolic Gulf, the Kara Sea, the Scottish Sea, the East China Sea, and Yellow and Black Seas respectively.
The second way, is by calculating location with a complex mathematical formula.
The Mausoleum of Lost Symphonies is said to belong to four undersea states that which are the Gulf of Mexico, Persian Gulf, the Sunda Trench, and the Kingdom of the Thousand Jewels. Their rulers: Leticia Alvarez, Saliffa Hatim, Devi Raisa and Kamadia De Lisle, are linked to forgotten musical notes that together, create Fiery Symphonies, currently known as the Lost Symphonies. Those instrumental songs were lost over time, but can still be heard at the mausoleum. They have ability to heal wounds and restore inner power.
However, there’s a very dark secret in the mausoleum. It all begins with Rathana, an ancient blessed mermaid, who went there to heal herself after casting a great spell that hurt her spiritually. The pain turned her into a monstrous mermaid and when her sister Lehatari tried to save her, she ended up dead.
Since then, their other two sisters, Sokhanya and Kolthida, turned the mausoleum into a prison, where they lock up all pilgrims, in the hope that living with them will give Rathana back her humanity lost.
Imprisoning everyone was possible thanks to the complex architectural structure of the mausoleum. Pyramidal in shape and surrounded by high walls, it has an interior divided into four parts, each one related to a different ancestor and note. The four parts are divided from each other with a highly complicated door mechanism, and it is exactly that mechanism, which makes escape that challenging.
The first door leads to Lehatari’s area, which is the entrance. Then, there’s the labyrinth belonging to the monster, Rathana. The labyrinth contains several traps, and the portraits on the walls actually hide graves of the deceased. Needless to say, it the most fearsome area of the mausoleum.
Then there’s the prison belonging to Kolthida, which is the place where captives are locked up. It has a kitchen, an area for farming oysters and algae, and a large library where the prisoners can spend time. There’s also a cell for Rathana. It’s important to note that once, the prison was a residential area for monk mermaids that wanted to pray and enjoy the Fiery Symphonies.
And last but not least, the heart of the mausoleum, Sokhanya’s area. It consists of a large inner shrine, which is a windowless square room with high walls full of glass mosaics, a sacrificial altar. Interestingly, the shrine itself, is a musical instrument, which, when set in motion, plays the Fiery Symphonies that are recorded on metal sheets.
The Fiery Symphonies are the treasure for which thousands of explorers and adventurers sought the place. They contain divine melodies that, once heard, make most music sound shallow.
In the “Stories from the Undersea World of Mermaid Princess Amelia, Vol. 2”
The Mausoleum of Lost Symphonies is Kamadia’s intended pilgrimage destination, a place of profound spiritual significance tied to the legend of the “descendants of the four notes.” It is the site where Kamadia believes she and the other three descendants can embark on a wondrous journey to revive the “mesmerizing Fiery Symphonies.” Her goal is to restore the inherent healing powers of music, making it whole once more. Kamalika is familiar with this location, asking Kamadia if she is considering a pilgrimage there. The journey to the Mausoleum is predicted by Kamalika’s cards to be not one of physical travel, but rather a profound spiritual odyssey that may involve moments of feeling stuck and overwhelmed by anxiety, requiring the help of certain individuals to overcome the challenges. It represents the culmination of Kamadia’s grand plan to bring a new religion to her kingdom.
