Adrian Salgari is a character in “Stories from the Undersea World of Mermaid Princess Amelia, Vol. 2” by Maxine Foti. He appeared briefly in Mewa’s story titled “The League of the Treasure-Burying Captains.”

He is a young merman from Antemidia with light brown hair and a turquoise tail that shifts in hue from pale blue to deep, vibrant shades. His amber eyes are direct and unapologetic, and his face has an almost princely quality—a strong jaw, straight nose, and features befitting a fairy tale, though a small chip in one front tooth adds character to his otherwise perfect appearance.

He wears a theatrical pirate-inspired outfit: a billowy white shirt with rolled sleeves, a dark leather vest with crudely sewn-on shell buttons, a red sash tied around his waist, and a necklace with a single, worn tiger’s tooth.

He adopted the surname Salgari from Emilio Salgari, the human author of Sandokan pirate adventures that changed his life.

Adrian is passionate, romantic, and idealistic, seeing his life through the lens of adventure stories. He fled Antemidia’s strict social hierarchies and embodies the spirit of Sandokan—creating his own kingdom, living by his own rules.

He is knowledgeable about maritime history and shows genuine wonder when discovering first-edition Salgari books. Unlike Felipe, his charm is authentic and uncalculated.

Trivia:

  • Maxine Foti created his character to honor the author Emilio Salgari.
  • He is the only merman in Jet Mir’s crew that Jet Mir genuinely liked and wanted to work with.
