Caspar Nostradamar is a character in “Stories from the Undersea World of Mermaid Princess Amelia, Vol. 2” by Maxine Foti. He appeared briefly in Mewa’s story titled “The League of the Treasure-Burying Captains.”
He was described as a pale, ghost-like merman with dark, intense eyes that look too large for his thin face and a tail the color of a stormy sky.
He wears a simple, faded black t-shirt that hangs from his bony shoulders, unlike the flowing garments favored by most merfolk.
He introduces himself as an occultist from the Nautilus Order, recently “liberated” from merchant kidnappers.
His demeanor is deeply unsettling—he trails his fingers along corridors, flinches at empty spaces, and claims to sense “echoes” and “residues of pain” in the submarine. He refuses to enter the engine room, claiming it’s “too loud with unspoken words.”
His presence lowers the temperature of the water around him, and he speaks of “the hollow where someone important used to be,” an observation that visibly affects Namya. He is ultimately dismissed as too disturbed and disturbing to keep aboard.
