Rasheeda Chandran is a character from Mermaid Princess Amelia fantasy series by Maxine Foti. She made her first appearance in the “Stories from the Undersea World of Mermaid Princess Amelia.”

Rasheeda Chandran is a mermaid from Mrigatrishna City, Honey Earth. She is a servant of the new queen, Shanaya Mia Khanda-Madhu, and the secret love of Sha Mir Madhu, Jet Mir’s first cousin.

Rasheeda was described as a tall, thin and graceful mermaid with platinum hair tied up on the top of her head and adorned with silver leaves. She wore a rose gold saree and had a beautiful golden tail.

Rasheeda and Sha Mir kept their romantic relationship secret because it was controversial due to her being of lower rank and not having a honorific (“Mia”). Jet Mir criticized Sha Mir for his relationship with Rasheeda, for that very reason, but after Sha Mir told him, Rasheeda was special, Jet Mir stopped being critical of him.

When Sha Mir was accidentally stabbed by one of the golden shadow assassins hired by his mother, Rasheeda was the first to swim in his direction. She was, however, pushed away by his mother, Shanaya Mia Khanda-Madhu, so violently that she fell down on the floor. As she did, her jewelry clinked in a characteristical way. Jet Mir Thakur, who developed post-traumatic stress disorder after the massacre, became vulnerable to the sound of jewelry clinking that triggered traumatic memories in him.

Since Rasheeda couldn’t reach Sha Mir, she sang a mermaid lament of undying love, for her lover, Sha Mir. Fortunately, Sha Mir managed to survive, and probably kept seeing her in secret.

Rasheeda’s surname, Chandran, means “moon.”

Grisha is a fourteen-year-old boy born in the Sea of Azov, which is part of the mermaid state called the Hospitable Sea. Because of his young age, he is still short, with strawberry blond hair, grey eyes, and hundreds of freckles adorning his face in an adorable way. However, his black tail and matching vest with silver decorations give him a rather serious look. He serves as a court messenger, and he listens to Edith’s speech with much interest, telling her that it “rocked.” He offers his own opinion on where the line of influence should be drawn, suggesting the Sea of Marmara shouldn’t have more influence than they already have on the Black Sea. He also asks Edith to draw Mr. Octopus and his eight mighty weapons, and when she gives him the finished drawing, he calls her a “sea treasure” and says that nobody can draw the character as accurately as she does.
