Duncan is the nephew of the deceased Ailish and, by inheritance, a shareholder in the K.A.V.E.M. District—a strategic economic zone that becomes a central piece in Amelia’s political chessboard. He is initially part of the coalition of shareholders that includes Vera, Kamon’s sister Pakpao, Samantha, and Ailish’s estate. Lumina hopes to terminate the union with Pakpao and Samantha but keep trading with Vera and Duncan, showing that Duncan was seen as a potentially friendly or neutral party.
However, the situation deteriorates dramatically. In Chapter 26, it is revealed that Duncan has surrendered to the enemy—he has capitulated to the coalition that includes Samantha, Pakpao, and presumably other hostile rulers. His surrender leaves only Amelia, Lumina, and Vera as the remaining shareholders who refuse to bow to pressure. This betrayal forces Amelia and Lumina to double their efforts, ultimately prompting them to sell their portion of the district to the Bermuda Triangle to eliminate enemy influence and gain much‑needed funds. Duncan has no dialogue and no on‑page presence; his importance is entirely structural—he is a domino that falls, shifting the balance of power and forcing the protagonists into more desperate measures.
