Despina in “Stories from the Undersea World of Mermaid Princess Amelia, Vol. 2
Despina is an elderly mermaid princess living on land, the Division’s first mission. She is described as a frail, elderly woman with white hair reaching her elbows. Her voice is filled with wisdom and warmth, and she has a gentle, appreciative nature. She lives in a quaint seaside cottage and is left alone during the summer while her daughter and grandchildren are on vacation. Despite her age, she is sprightly and welcoming. She becomes the beneficiary of the Division’s volunteer efforts, receiving help with groceries, cooking, gardening, and cleaning. She signs their book in gratitude, officially recognizing their support.
