Shafia Mia Madhu is a character from Mermaid Princess Amelia fantasy series by Maxine Foti. She made her first appearance in the “Stories from the Undersea World of Mermaid Princess Amelia.”
Shafia Mia Madhu is the daughter of the maharaja of Honey Earth, Shri Mir Madhu, and his new wife, Shanaya Mia Khanda-Madhu.
Shafia Mia was described as a beautiful mermaid, with mid-length dark hair combed back and adorned with a sapphire necklace tied asymmetrically around her forehead. Like other mermaids and mermen from the Honey Earth, she had a golden tail, probably with blue specles (like her mother’s).
Shafia Mia has an older brother named Sha Mir Madhu, and just like him, she is Jet Mir Thakur’s first cousin. Since both of her parents had their own children earlier, Shafia Mia had two step-sisters: Lipika Mia Madhu (on her father’s side) and Kashvi Chari (on her mother’s side). Shafia Mia wasn’t close to Lipika Mia, and she probably didn’t know about Kashvi’s existence, not until Kashvi went to look for her mother.
Unlike her mother, the new queen, Shafia Mia didn’t feel great at the palace. She was ashamed of being the daughter of a harem mistress that turned usurper. Shafia Mia felt persecuted for her mother’s choices, and dreaded great gatherings because a lot of guests threw her hateful looks.
On the day of the Mrigatrisha City Massacre, Shafia Mia excused herself from the ball early, as she felt bad about seeing some guests. Thanks to this, she survived the massacre.
After the massacre, Shafia Mia migrated to the capital of the Kingdom of One Thousand Jewels, Firavaka, where she did a crystal healing practical course. She was interested in crystals since a summer camp spent in the Kingdom of One Thousand Jewels. Despite finishing the course, she refused to go home. Just like her brother Sha Mir, she blamed her mother for what happened, and for Jet Mir’s unjustified exile.
