Darya Hatim is a character from Mermaid Princess Amelia fantasy series by Maxine Foti. She made her first appearance in the “Stories from the Undersea World of Mermaid Princess Amelia.”
Mrs. Hatim is the wife of Shah Parviz Hatim of Delshad, and also the mother of their seven daughters, the oldest being Roshanara Hatim-Sharma and the youngest being Saliffa Hatim-Kaspian. Despite the fact that Saliffa was her last daughter, Mrs. Hatim loved her just like the others, if not more; she called her her “greatest joy.”
Mrs. Hatim is a quiet, patient, and warm person whose greatest wish is to see her daughters happily married, and her family unified. She is also very religious, and spends much time praying for love in the world, and other good things.
Intriguingly, her other hobbies include archery, which she has always practiced with her long-time best friend, Elmira Shirazi. She considers Elmira’s daughter, Soraya Shirazi-Mervarid, her unofficial eight daughter.
Mrs. Hatim is very overweight, and a pinkish-red tail. She is a perfectionist who must always make sure that things are in the perfect order. After Saliffa put her husband’s room upside down, Mrs. Hatim criticized her severely for creating disorder, upsetting her father, and adding unnecessary work to the court servants.
Mrs. Hatim’s name, Darya, means “river.”
