Eligia Mroz is a character from Mermaid Princess Amelia fantasy series by Maxine Foti. She made her first appearance in the “Stories from the Undersea World of Mermaid Princess Amelia.”

Eligia is an adult mermaid living in Morskie Oko, a mountain lake located up in the Tatra Mountains, Poland. As such, she spoke Polish.

Eligia was described as a young woman with dark brown hair partially braided back. Her skin was pale and her eyes had a unique emerald color. She wore simple black clothes, and a hand-crocheted cardigan with an amethyst necklace.

Eligia is a very fearful and closed-off young woman. For a long time, she didn’t really have any friends but it was her personal choice. She believed that friendships made her confused about who she really was. This means that she’s a character who’s very easily influenced by other people, a lot like Sawa.

Sawa and Eligia’s friendship developed rather slowly. It took Eligia months to finally speak to Sawa. But after the two have finally becoome close, Eligia became very attached to Sawa. She gifted her a a geode in the shades of emerald and amethyst as a sign of her friendship. She always promised to always be there for Sawa, no matter how much time passes or what happens.

Eligia’s parents are named Zyta nad Zygryd, and she has an older brother named Faustyn. All of her family members are miners digging crystals covering the lake bottom.

Eligia’s name means “chosen by God”‘ and is quite an old fashioned name, one that’s seldom used in Poland. Eligia’s surname means “freezing cold / frost” in Polish.
