Mermaid Princess Amelia and the Lost Symphony is a breathtaking novel with many subplots consisting of various characters with different backgrounds.
Hence, it is entirely impossible to summarize all that goes on in this book. Also, there have been many secrets and speculations brewing from certain subplots. Some of them include (but are not limited to!):
TIKALIE’S DEATH
In “Mermaid Princess Amelia and the Lost Symphony,” Elective Princess Tikalie Uxmal is known to be a dedicated ruler who helped to transform Antemidia into a powerful country. However, during her reign, something tragic happens. Tikalie dies, and Amelia assumes the office of the elective princess. There are rumors that the princess’ death is fake… and that General Asvald is involved. Did Tikalie really let go of her ruling powers in Antemidia, though? Will Amelia ever get to meet her? Readers are dying to know.
ARAMINTA’S STAY IN ANTEMIDIA
Araminta is a scholarship student who is also Amelia’s lady in waiting. Still, along the line, it is revealed that the reason for Araminta’s stay in Antemidia might not be that straightforward. What exactly is she doing in the country’s capital, Atanga? Is she some spy-like Lumina implied? Why did she run away from Jet Mir’s submarine? What is she up to?
AMELIA’S ELECTION
In Mermaid Princess Amelia and the Lost Symphony, it is known that General Asvald chooses Amelia as the elective princess after the tragic death of Princess Tikalie. It is also known that Princess Tikalie might not be dead and that General Asvald helped fake her death… Is he still keeping in touch with her? Tikalie and Lumina were best friends… And Amelia is Lumina’s sister. Was General Asvald’s choice somehow related to that? Why did he choose Amelia? Why not some other candidate?
GENERAL ASVALD’S RULE
Time to take an ever closer look at General Asvald, the Chief General of the Council of Generals ruling Antemidia. He is a military figure with a great deal of experience. He is analytical and always makes the right decisions concerning Antemidia. He is wise, kind, and trustworthy. Is there more to him than what Amelia sees?
AMELIA AND TONY’S FRIENDSHIP
The bond between these two is so unique that it needs to be studied. They have been friends for not many years, given that Tony is five years older than Amelia, and she’s been at the court only for four years. Still, it looks like the two got really, really close during those four years! What helped them bond? Also… are they really just friends? From their interactions, it looks like they may be in love with each other because they have a way of communicating without words. When they unite after Amelia returns to Antemidia, Amida accuses them of being in love with each other. Could she be right?

There is a lot to analyze from this novel, which is the first in the series.
