These tips can be adopted gradually by establishing a simple do-it-yourself routine; or if you want changes fast, you can employ a professional interior designer to do it for you. Let’s get started!

  1. Use weathered wood, bold stripes, and classic red, white, or blue palettes in your room.
  2. Blue, just like green, is a natural color; and it’s immediately associated with the sky and the waters. Add blue texture to white areas. Doing so can make your space feel like the seaside beach house you are yearning for!
  3. Hang maritime signal flags on the walls.
  4. Use nautical colors on the furniture, as well. In the bedroom, in the spot above the bed, add framed flags of red and white leather, white cotton curtains, and tailored stripes.
  5. Have a dining room with a view. This is best for a wall of floor-to-ceiling windows and sliding doors. Have breezy tie-top curtains and a lightweight and hunky lantern hanging above the dining table.
  6. The porch should be a cozy place to relax. Add a colorful rug to cover sand that might be carried to the place.
  7. The bathroom can mimic marine chairs by having seascapes, seafaring scones, and a navy soaking tub.
  8. You can have a collection of seashells in the living room cabinet with a whale-like vase.
  9. Have a series of ship paintings on the wall and wooden blue ceilings and walls to match.
  10. You can install a fun teak and fiberglass tub in the rowboat style in the bathrooms. You can also have a salvaged porthole that serves as a small window and yellow or blue tiles to complete the look.
  11. Have wicker furniture by the poach or brass furniture in the entire house.
  12. You can have a backsplash on a wall in a room.
  13. Have an antique crystal ship chandelier sailing over a glass-top dining table.
  14. On the walls hang small pieces of your beach life like hats and rope clocks.
  15. Have wallpapers charting the coastal lineups or swirling waves.
