Nerland is a coastal country in the middle of the cold, insipid Baltic Sea. Hence, the water’s taste can be very bland for mermaids who prefer a salty environment.
Nerland can be described as a dark and powerful mermaid country, with the country’s colors being dark blue, black, and silver. Also, the country’s flag is a dark sapphire material with a cross, and a black rose on it. The official language spoken in Nerland is German.
It should be noted that Nerland is the home to Lumina Mond, Marzia Mond’s daughter, as well as her sister, Amelia Quintana. The Mond family’s aristocratic dynasty has been the rulers of Nerland, right from Nikodemus I, the son of queen Nelke II of Dunkel-Rotblau, who married Melania Malina Mond and gave birth to Marzia Maledra Mond.
After crossing the borders of the Baltic Sea, there are singular villages beyond the sand dunes. On arrival into the country, one sees the first boroughs located beyond the wild fields. The boroughs are separated with boundaries marked by small boards within the stone walls. The streets look ones from the medieval period, with buildings like taverns and churches having thick solid walls covered by sea vines. Their tall towers have sharp arches and stained-glass windows covered with sea vines.
The county has some prominent places like Sternstaub, Dusterburg, and Rosenbach. Not much is known about Rosenbach, except that it is the present capital of Nerland, and that the name means “a stream of roses.” Little is known about Sternstaub. It is a small town with only its western part inhabited. And it is also known as the last town still inhabited in Nerland, beyond the old capital – Dusterburg. The streets are made of granite and covered with dust and algae because most people have left the town. Sternstaub means “stardust” in German.
Dusterburg was notable for housing the most important feudal houses, as well as the seat of the dynasty, located in an old sapphire castle surrounded by a park full of twisted trees. There are marble figures constructed between the trees, and exquisite flowerbeds covered with white flowers which are preserved with magic. The castle has hundreds of blue-striped agate towers built on a polished blue mineral terrace.
The castle has many floors filled with secret passages and chambers, and Lumina’s bedroom can be found in a distinct tower. Its floors are made of crescent-shaped platforms with beautifully decorated columns of varying lengths.
Another important place is the amphitheater. It’s located in the center of the castle’s courtyard. Also, it should be noted that the country’s capital was moved from Dusterburg to Rosenbach because of a tragedy at the castle’s amphitheater in April 2001, when Lumina’s powers got out of control.
