Name: Kolthida
Mermaid kingdom: Kingdom of One Thousand Jewels
Patron and protector of: Authenticity
Demon of: Fear
Assigned area: Mausoleum’s Prison
Assigned note: Ko.
Age: Around 1000 year old
Family: Sisters Sokhanya, Rathana and Lehatari. Her direct descendant is Kamadia De Lisle.
Looks: She had a square face with a flat nose and thick lips. Her hair was long, curly, and white (probably because of her age).
Personality: After Rathana killed Lehatari, Kolthida and Sokhanya were supposed to avenge her death. However, they both couldn’t stand the thought of losing another sister. Instead, they kept living at the mausoleum and locking pilgrims, hoping that their presence, prayer, and Fiery Symphonies could cure Rathana.
This shows, Kolthida was able to deal with her hurt feelings, and forgive, and still love her sister. It’s also likely that she didn’t want to stain her hands with blood. Unfortunately, her inability to take the tough decision, only ended in countless innocent pilgrims being killed through the ages.
Kolthida never tried to take responsibility, though. When Kamadia asked her to put the end to Rathana’s terror, Kolthida refused, choosing to stick to the status quo. It’s highly likely that the thought of hurting Rathana terrified her, but she was probably scared of opposing her sister Sokhanya, who was playing first fiddle in the mausoleum.
As a result, Kolthida made a spiritual ritual to steal Lehatari’s post-mortem energy, to make herself stronger and have more chances against Kamadia. Even though, from Kamadia’s perspective, it was an awful act, it’s likely that Kolthida had done it to connect spiritually to her dead sister, and feel that she was doing right things. Lehatari truly cared about Rathana.
Kolthida, just like Sokhanya, has a medallion regulating door mechanisms in the Mausoleum, and she could let everyone out, but she doesn’t. One could almost say, she and Sokhanya, had become queens of the Mausoleum, and that their rule is oppressive terror. Together, they had both permitted hundreds of years of slaughter in the mausoleum under the poor excuse of not wanting to hurt their feral sister. This shows, that with time, both Kolthida and Sokhanya became greedy for power and that they’re pleased with the status quo, no matter how awful it feels to everyone else.
Trivia:
- Kolthida had a collection of ancient books at the Mausoleum, and she made notes on them. Because she made them in Malagasy, Kamadia was the only one who could read them.
- Kamadia had trouble doing the ritual. It inquired much spiritual energy, and she felt tired. However, she grew to the task.
- After the Global Ocean’s Army stormed into the Mausoleum, Kolthida was arrested and interrogated.
