Name: Leticia Alvarez
Mermaid kingdom: Gulf of Mexico
Occupation:Leader of the Gulf of Mexico
Looks as human: Leticia Alvarez has dark eyes, which she decorates with golden eyeshadow, and long wavy hair reaching elbows. On the video seen by Amelia, she was wearing gray jeans, a simple black T-shirt, and an oversized sweater made with white wool. She was wearing a huge golden necklace and matching earrings from her country.
Looks as mermaid: In the first novel, she’s not described in the mermaid form, hence, we can only speculate what she looks like. She probably has a golden tail, like most people from her kingdom.
Personality: Not much is known about Leticia. However, she’s surely a trustworthy and helpful person, one who takes a proactive attitude in the face of problems – even when she’s ill. This can be very well seen from her actions. After the earthquake in Antemidia, Gulf of Mexico sent their workers and architects to help with disaster relief. Despite her illness, she also recorded a tape to help rescue Kamadia. Leticia is sometimes called a princess and sometimes a leader, which means, she has both royal origins and all qualities of a leader.
Friends: Leticia has a good relationship with Amelia, and was probably also close friends with Tikalie (but that’s not known for sure), as Antemidia and Gulf of Mexico are neighbouring countries. Leticia mentions Kamadia as her friend, but it’s not known, where they had met each other. It’s highly likely that they had a bond being descendants of Lehatari and Kolthida. It is known for sure, Kamadia knew the other descendants (Raisa and Saliffa) as well.
Trivia:
- Amelia mentions that Leticia’s home is a temple.
- Amelia and Leticia have a personal union and help each other.
- When Leticia’s illness progressed, she probably sought treatment on land, as on the tape recorded, she’s in somebody’s house in Mexico.
- Leticia is a descendant of Lehatari. It is known that she, Kamadia, Saliffa and Raisa, are all spiritually tied to a lost note that has been forgotten by the living people. These four notes, paired with the seven sounds were once used to create ancient songs known as the Fiery Symphonies.
- Leticia knows about the Mausoleum of Lost Symphonies from the copy of an ancient document with coordinates.
