Zygfryd Mróz
Zygfryd Mróz is a merman from Lake Morskie Oko in the Tatra Mountains, and he is the father of Eligia and Faustyn, and the husband of Zyta. Like his son and wife, he is a miner by profession, spending his days chipping away at the lake bottom to harvest the crystals that lie buried there. No physical description is given – no hair colour, tail colour, or distinguishing features – and he never appears directly in the narrative. He is mentioned only when Eligia, in her rare moments of openness, tells Sawa about her family.
