Emperor Huang Suoyu is the stern ruler of the South China Sea and father to Huang Yan and Huang Ling. He is a traditional figure with little patience and a quick temper, especially when hungry, but he ultimately cares for his sons’ happiness.
However, he is also somewhat absent-minded and prone to long-winded monologues, which frustrates Huang Yan’s attempts to speak with him privately. This flaw has significant consequences, as he inadvertently allows the Sea Jade wreck to be taken by a global institution by not fully understanding the paperwork he approved a decade earlier.
Despite his stern exterior, he shows a soft spot by agreeing to his son’s engagement proposal to a foreign princess, indicating that his love for his family can override his traditional inclinations.
