Aleixo is a character in “Stories from the Undersea World of Mermaid Princess Amelia, Vol. 2” by Maxine Foti. He appeared briefly in Mewa’s story titled “The League of the Treasure-Burying Captains.”
A human boy living in Portugal, presumably on or near the coast given his connection to fishing. He draws pictures of what he imagines Mewa’s submarine looks like (hilariously wrong, according to Mewa, consisting of “metal tubes and propellers” rather than a golden crab).
He writes letters to Mewa, learns poems in Polish to surprise her, and sends photographs of himself on his father’s fishing boat.
He represents Mewa’s connection to the human world and her impossible romantic longings. He is described through Mewa’s eyes as kind and honest, with simple, straightforward affection.
