Mermaid Kingdoms in Gulfs
Argolic Gulf
We were introduced to the Argolic Gulf in the first book in the Mermaid Princess Amelia Series, but then we learned more in the first story collection. There, we met the teenage representative of it, Poseyda Eos, and her friends. It is known that all mermaids and mermen from there are Greeks, and the Argolic Gulf is in the southeastern part of the Aegean Sea.
Gulf of Corinth
Another gulf from the universe of Mermaid Princess Amelia is the Gulf of Corinth. In the first story collection, Poseyda and Jayden both met a mermaid from there during their summer camp on Crete (Diamanda Xiphias), who was precisely from the Gulf of Corinth. If you are curious, the Gulf of Corinth is a popular tourist destination in the southern part of Greece. It’s also known for its staggering topography with deep blue waters and cliffs.
Gulf of Sidra
Another fascinating undersea place from the Gulf category is the Gulf of Sidra. We first hear about this place when Setenet tells Nubia that his mom was from there. This gulf is found in the Mediterranean Sea off the coast of Libya. It is a shipping route for oil tankers and other vessels.
Persian Gulf
One of the small states located in the Persian Gulf is Delshad. The first story collection introduced us to Saliffa, the daughter of the shah. Her marriage to Ehsan from the Caspian Sea depicted the union between Delshad and the Caspian Sea.
Mermaid Kingdoms in Lakes
Lake Victoria
Moving forward to mermaid states located in the lakes, the next one is Lake Victoria, the most prominent Lake in Africa. We first read about Lake Victoria in the first novel and then in the story collection. In Nubia’s story, it was revealed that the only priest from Nakth-Ankh who worshipped Seth had a relative living in Lake Victoria.
Lake Morskie Oko
Lake Morskie Oko (or Sea’s Eye Lake) was the last place Sawa visited at her aunt’s request. It’s the largest one in the Tatra Mountains and is surrounded by nearby peaks and forests. It’s a beautiful emerald lake glittering in the sunlight. However, weather conditions are said to be harsh, with chilly autumns and icy winters.
Lake Smieszne
Next is Lake Smieszne, the only fictional lake on this list. Sawa visited it after her stay in Gdynia.
Mermaid Kingdoms in Rivers
Nile River
In the first book in the Mermaid Princess Amelia Series, readers read about the Lotus State being located in the Nile River. Notable areas in the Nile River include the Delta, the Blue Nile, and the Cataracts. In the story collection, we learn that there are crocodiles in the more shallow areas and that the god of the river is Hapi.
Danube River
Also, in the first novel of the Mermaid Princess Amelia series, we met Vera Feher from the Moonstone Queendom in the Danube River.
