Anastazja Zielinska-Gwiazda is a character from Mermaid Princess Amelia fantasy series by Maxine Foti. She made her first appearance in “Stories from the Undersea World of Mermaid Princess Amelia.”
Anastazja Zielinska was an adult mermaid from the Southern Baltic (Bursztynia). She was the sister of Queen Walentyna Zielinska, and the aunt of Sawa Zielinska and her younger sister, Mewa Zielinska.
Anastazja grew up in Bursztynia. When vacationing in the Polish seashore city of Sopot, at the age of 19, Anastazja was spotted by a man twenty years her senior, Roman Gwiazda. The two fell in love and got married right away to stop others from gossipping about their relationship.
After getting married, Anastazja renovated the hotel that the man inherited from his parents, and the name was changed to “Anastazja Resort.” The place became very dynamic, and filled with foreign guests.
Anastazja’s sister didn’t approve of her life, and the two barely kept in touch. However, Anastazja and Roman still attended Sawa’s first communion on land, and bought her a bike. But Sawa was scared to ride it after hearing from her mother that she could knock her teeth out. Roman persuaded her that they were only joking but Sawa didn’t dare to ride the bike.
One year later, Anastazja ran away with a foreign guest, leaving her husband alone. She traveled a lot around Europe and eventually settled in Santa Ana, Portugal.
In her testament, she left a list of tasks that Sawa Zielinska had to do, to receive the legacy. As a result of fulfilling those tasks, Sawa changed greatly as a person and so did her younger sister, Mewa, who was her cheerleader. Both girls read the diaries of Aunt Anastazja, and were fascinated by her lifestyle, but it cost them the relationship with their mother which worsened as a result.
Anastazja’s surname, Gwiazda, means “star” in Polish, and can be used to describe a star in the sky, a showbusiness star, and a person with a very eccentric, controversial personality.
