5 Funniest Moments In Mermaid Princess Amelia And The Lost Symphony That you absolutely can’t miss!

“Mermaid Princess Amelia and the Lost Symphony” is a novel about family, friendship, betrayal, treasure hunt, adventure, and travel. Another exciting thing about this novel is that amidst all the adventure, there are funny moments hidden in the novel as you flip through the pages. This article is about those unexpected ones which would cause you to roar with laughter.

So what are the funniest moments?

When Amelia buys her karate-gi, and the dojo secretary turns out to be a swindler.

Amelia signs up for karate training immediately after returning from Portugal. The dojo secretary gives her a karate-gi way bigger than her, and he tries to convince her to take it. But Amelia stands her ground, and asks him to make a swap. He first tells her that it’s not allowed but as soon as she reminds him of the payment, he agrees to the “mischief” right away. And she leaves the dojo with the appropriate size of karate-gi.

When Amelia realizes that she rescued Taisuke’s twin brother and not him, and they get into a stupid argument

Another hilarious moment is when Amelia dives into the deep waters to save Hansuke, who she thought was her friend and karate partner, Taisuke. Amelia feels embarrassed when Hansuke does not know her name. She thinks that maybe he didn’t recognize her or he has gotten amnesia from drowning. Readers are left disappointed when a situation that they hoped to be romantic turn out to end in a funny argument instead. Amelia’s anger at saving the wrong guy, and Hansuke’s anger at being saved by the wrong mermaid, is well visible in the dialogue, and that’s what creates the comical effect here. When Lara obsesses about Amelia having a crush on Taisuke and then says she wants him.

As Taisuke agrees to accompany Amelia to the Jade Dragon, Amelia almost immediately shares it with her friends, hoping for some good advice. Instead, Lara adds to her uneasiness, insisting that Amelia has a crush on Taisuke that she’s not aware of; and that Taisuke accompanying her to the Jade Dragon was, in fact, a date. Amelia tries to convince Lara that she likes karate and not Taisuke, but Lara (and Edith!) won’t let go. Eventually, Lara jokes about taking Taisuke for herself, if Amelia is not interested in him, which is so unexpected, it makes readers burst with laughter.

When Jet Mir warns Amelia of Davika’s spy and Amelia learns that it’s Luiz.

Another funny moment occurs as Amelia is walking down the street one morning and Jet Mir sneaks up on her. After chatting about the mission for a while, he informs her rather brusquely that he has to leave because Davika’s spy is walking toward them, and adds that he doesn’t know who that might be. As Amelia looks up, she sees Luiz, Davika’s boyfriend, walking toward her. Luiz is not an evil character, in fact, he’s sweet and somewhat awkward, so the idea of him being a “spy” creates the entertaining effect.

When Jet Mir wants to divide shares on the treasure that they haven’t found yet.

Jet Mir meets the girls at the customs booth on their way back from Nerland. They all return to his submarine, and he talks about sharing the profits from their future discovery, even though they don’t even know if it’s going to be valuable. When you realize later that they were arguing about the Mausoleum of Lost Symphonies, which was a horrible place, Jet Mir’s greed becomes funny in retrospect.
