5 Young Mermen From The Stories From The Undersea World Of Mermaid Princess Amelia, Vol 1. Who Suffered
SHA MIR MADHU
Sha Mir’s life took an unexpected turn when he faced a harrowing near-death experience during Diwali—an encounter that left him wounded, both physically and emotionally. The trauma he endured cast a long shadow over his existence, causing pain and distress. As he grappled with the aftermath, Sha Mir found solace in the simplest of activities, such as caring for his cherished snails in the tranquil embrace of the greenhouse of Mrigatrishna City. In this delicate sanctuary, he sought refuge from the world, slowly mending the fragments of his shattered self.
Despite the unimaginable tragedy of the massacre, Sha Mir chose not to harbor any blame towards his first cousin, Jet Mir. Instead, he extended a compassionate hand by writing heartfelt letters, which played a pivotal role in Jet Mir’s journey toward healing from PTSD.
However, when it came to their mother, Sha Mir found himself unable to grant forgiveness. Recognizing her as the mastermind behind the devastating event that nearly claimed his own life, the wounds ran too deep for him to find the strength to let go of the pain and betrayal he felt.
JET MIR THAKUR
Jet Mir’s suffering had begun long before he even recognized it. Unbeknownst to him, his new aunt (who was also Sha Mir’s mother) had been devising a scheme to remove him from the picture, driven by her desire to secure the throne for her own children, Sha Mir and Shafia Mia.
Despite her relentless attempts to get rid of him, all her efforts proved unsuccessful. As a last resort, she resorted to contemplating his murder. It is a distressing revelation that she, possibly in collaboration with her husband, orchestrated the horrifying massacre of Mrigatrishna City.
However, due to a tragic case of mistaken identity, Jet Mir was spared as the golden assassin mistakenly attacked Sha Mir, who happened to be wearing Jet Mir’s shawl. Although Jet Mir survived the massacre physically, the traumatic experience left deep emotional scars, leading to the development of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
Adding to his immense suffering, he was wrongly accused and blamed for the atrocity, resulting in his forced exile from his own city. This compounded his anguish and sense of injustice, leaving him to grapple with a multitude of challenges in the aftermath of this harrowing incident.
However, a glimmer of hope began to emerge for Jet Mir when he stumbled upon his grandfather’s journals detailing his adventurous travels and artifact hunts. This discovery, coupled with his relocation to the mysterious Bermuda Triangle, followed by a move to Portugal, where he crossed paths with Edith, brought about a gradual improvement in his mental well-being. Though he never fully reverted to his former self, the new encounters and experiences infused his life with a renewed sense of purpose and vitality.
SETENET AKHENATEN
On the surface, Setenet appeared to be an exuberant and self-assured merman, often seen cracking jokes and making sarcastic comments – that sometimes brought Nubia to tears.
From Setenet’s outward demeanor, one might assume that he had a joyous upbringing. However, as Nubia’s story progressed, the painful truth about Setenet’s past gradually unfolded. It was revealed that behind his witty facade, he had silently endured the torment of physical abuse inflicted by his father, Nakht-Ankh.
Setenet hid the fact that his father abused him, saying that the wounds were inflicted by a crocodile, and diligently treated them with ointment obtained at one of the Nakht-Ankh temples. When Nubia inquired about the reasons behind his father’s actions, Setenet simply responded: “because he can.” This response reveals a profound sense of resignation that he had felt and shows the helplessness and lack of control that he felt in the face of his father’s abusive behavior.
It is possible that Setenet’s mischievous and teasing behavior towards Nubia was a coping mechanism for the deep pain he carried within. However, as he grew closer to Nubia, he revealed a different side of himself – one that was friendly and kind.
This shift in his demeanor suggests that when Setenet felt more secure and connected to someone, he allowed his true nature to shine through.
WIKTOR KRUK
Wiktor, a young man hailing from the city of Lodz, experienced a life-altering encounter when he crossed paths with Sawa upon his relocation to the coastal town of Gdynia.
Their shared passion for music led them to form a rock band named the Baltic Ghosts, embarking on an exhilarating musical journey together. As they mesmerized audiences at nightclubs and festivals with their melancholic performances, their bond grew stronger, drawing them closer to one another.
In spite of the heartbreak of Sawa seemingly not reciprocating Wiktor’s feelings and leaving without saying goodbye, Wiktor couldn’t forget her. He wrote her a postcard and later made a courageous decision to visit her in Portugal, hoping for a chance to reconnect.
This shows that Sawa left a profound mark on his heart and that the extent of his suffering from a broken heart was great.
VASILAKIS MADIANIS
Growing up, Vasilakis witnessed his father’s unwavering dedication as he navigated the challenges of juggling his roles as a father, teacher, and teachers’ union leader. It was evident to Vasilakis that his father was constantly under pressure and faced immense stress in his efforts to effectively manage all aspects of his life.
Witnessing the hardships faced by both him and his mother, who took on the arduous task of cleaning houses on land to contribute to the family’s income, Vasilakis was acutely aware of the harsh realities of life. In order to make ends meet, he took up employment at a shark farm, a job that came with inherent risks and dangers.
Still, despite the challenges and hazards involved, Vasilakis courageously embraced this role, demonstrating his determination to support his family and overcome the difficult circumstances they faced.
